About the Teacher

Ryan Deguzis earned his B.M. In Viola Performance from the Peabody Institute of Music where he studied with Stephen Wyrczynski. In 2012 he completed his graduate studies with Rita Porfiris at the Hartt School of Music earning his Graduate Professional Diploma. As an avid orchestral musician Ryan has studied privately with members of the Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Houston Symphony as well as performing at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Tanglewood Institute. In 2012 Mr. Deguzis was awarded an orchestral fellowship at the Texas Music Festival and was a substitute violist for the New World Symphony during the 2012-2013 season.

In addition to his performing schedule, Mr. Deguzis has been teaching Violin and Viola students for over twelve years and has helped students gain acceptance into: the Northern Regional Festival, Eastern Regional Festival, Inter-El Music Program, Camerata, and Solisti in West Hartford, as well as the Stringendo and Sinfonia Orchestral programs at the Hartt School. He maintains a large studio of over 40 students in his private studio with students from West Hartford, Newington, Farmington, Glastonbury, and New Britain. The Complete Musician is the continuation and consolidation of his philosophy to provide in-depth but fun music lessons for the next generation.  His studio philosophy is to practice slowly, think carefully, have a healthy amount perseverance and stubbornness, but mostly to have fun!
